Payment is accepted in the form of ACH transfer from a checking account, or by credit card. There is no charge for payment from a checking account and a convenience fee is assessed for credit card use paid directly to the online banking service vendor. Newton Public Schools does not charge a fee for this service.

The School Committee has set an overall cap on fees, so that no family will pay more than $1,800 per year. Because the bus fee applications will be required before the opening of school, no family will pay more than $620 for busing. The remainder of the cap will apply to all other fees except for:
- Elementary Early Morning Program
- High School Parking
- Preschool Tuition
- School Lunch
The school administration maintains records of payment for each student/family so that individual caps or the family “super cap” can be applied appropriately.

Policy
Waivers will be available to all qualified cases of financial hardship, so that no student is denied participation in school-sponsored activities or bus transportation due to an inability to pay. Federal and state guidelines for waivers are based on income and family size. Additional consideration may be given for special circumstances such as unforeseen medical problems, change in family status, change in employment status or other emergencies. |
